Legislation on payment service is intended to enhance security in payment services and protect customers. The old security codes are not deemed to meet modern security requirements. SCA enhances customer security through the combined use of two of the following three criteria to authenticate:
- Something that you own, like a phone
- Something that you are, like a fingerprint
- Something that you know, like a PIN
At the moment, our retail customers can choose between using biometrics (fingerprint or face ID), electronic ID on phones and the Auðkenni app in SCA. The Bank follows technological advances closely and will no doubt add more secure channels in coming years. We take advantage of numerous methods to strengthen the Bank’s defences and increase customer security on the digital platform."
